The 2020 Electoral Canvass is coming to you soon

July 16, 2020

Residents are being encouraged not to lose their voice on decisions that affect them by making sure their electoral registration details are up to date.

Households will receive an Electoral Canvass letter from us at the beginning of August. Residents are being urged to check the details and follow the instructions on their letter. This will ensure that we correct electoral details for each address in the District and that residents can make their vote count in next year's elections.

Corporate Support Service Manager, John Medler, said: "New national canvass arrangements have been introduced in 2020 and unlike previous years not all households will need to respond to their canvass letter. It is important that residents check the details on their letter as this will indicate whether a response is required. Making sure you provide any necessary information will ensure the process runs smoothly, this is particularly helpful in the current public health situation, as it will help avoid the need for home visits from canvassers."

This year's Canvass is taking place during a challenging time taking account of current public health guidelines, including the continued importance of social distancing. Where possible, residents are encouraged to respond online, by telephone or text message.
